TyreSafe®
Safe tyres save lives
We have a long heritage of innovation in developing driver safety technologies. For over one hundred years we have been at the forefront of ensuring drivers throughout the world have the best available original equipment and braking systems for their vehicles.
Many of our proprietary systems – such as Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) – have been adopted by the global automotive industry, resulting in a better, safer driving experience for drivers worldwide.
As part of our on-going commitment to provide the safest driving experience, we are a leading supporter of providing drivers with the knowledge they need, helping ensure their safe onward travel. To support this we are a corporate member and active supporter of TyreSafe, the UK’s foremost charitable organisation centred around improving tyre safety.
TyreSafe – Safe tyres do save lives
TyreSafe is dedicated to raising awareness of the potential dangers associated with defective or illegal tyres. Established in 2006, TyreSafe campaigns in line with current legislation, striving to ensure the menace of defective or illegal tyres is eradicated from Britain’s roads.
Since its inception, TyreSafe’s activities have helped reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on British roads each year in a tyre related accident by 31%.

Tracey Mortimer, Marketing Director at Continental says: “Continental proudly champions the work of TyreSafe in raising tyre safety issues to the consumer, and in its work with other road safety bodies and transport professionals. As part of our engagement we also proactively talk to consumers and run demonstrations at our automotive partnerships.”
Bringing tyre safety to life
We are committed to making driving safer and is leading many initiatives through TyreSafe on road safety relating to tyres, such as the effects of tread depth on stopping distances, through to the need for regular tyre checks and maintenance.
Telling the story of tyre safety is at the heart of our commitment to road safety, with free consumer driving experiences run each half term period at Mercedes-Benz World, as Partner in excellence. Our own research clearly shows the tyre engagement begins with hands on experience, understanding the critical role of a tyres contact patch and the safety it provides.
